Toshiba Portable Dvd Player

Some consider the Toshiba portable DVD player as one of the ultimate travel companions to whittle away the time it takes to get to your destination.  The DVD player is absolutely valuable to frequent travellers and especially for children on long car journeys.  The Toshiba portable DVD player is able to play not only DVD’s but also music and has various models which include swivel widescreens that can play DivX files, MP3’s and even JPEG pictures.  Here we are going to take a look at a few models and point out their features and their drawbacks.

SD-P63 Toshiba Portable DVD Player

The SD-P63 looks great, in fact it looks super great.  It delivers very crisp high quality screens and images and the virtual 3D surround sound will really bring your movies to life.  Another great feature is that it has 2 headphone sockets so you can watch a movie or share music with a friend rather then sharing just the one headphone each, a feature we really liked as you know how kids are!  The unit also has decent battery life of 3 hours which means you should be able to watch just about any movie in one sitting and it also includes a range of other media options including the MP3 player, JPEG viewer and DivX player allowing playback of compressed movies and audio files.  The panel size is 7 inches and we really likes the overall look and feel of this unit.

SD-P73 Toshiba Portable DVD Player

This is the sleeker looking brother of the SD-P63 with some obvious and not so obvious enhancements.  Firstly its more slimline then its older brother and as you would expect delivers on performance and quality with crisp images and great sound.  Another additional benefit is the battery time, its now up to 5 hours rather then the 3 hours of its predecessor which allows you to watch just about any movie you may have or even two.  You again also get DivX capability / MP3 playback and a SD card slot for all your photos / images to be played back via JPEG.  Panel size on this beauty is 7 inches again but we feel it looks a little sleeker and the extra battery life is a godsend.

SD-P92 Toshiba Portable DVD Player

This is one lovely looking machine with its impressive 9 inch screen and its crystal clear high quality screen that displays images and movies with consummate ease and crispness along with its 3D surround sound give you a great movie going experience on the move.  Again you get twin headphone sockets and the screen is formatted in widescreen that swivels so you can now position the screen anyway you want.  Disappointed that the battery is only 3 hours though, but it does give you the JPEG viewer, DivX playback and an SD card slot like the other Toshiba Portable DVD players.  All in all a great machine but we would prefer a better battery life.

SD-P93 Toshiba Portable DVD Player

This has to be our favourite right here.  A big widescreen of 9 inches and probably the best picture out of all four of the portable DVD players we have looked at.  All the screens looked great for crispness and quality but this one just seems to stand out as the images and graphics on screen look absolutely fantastic.  Again you get twin headsets and the screen can swivel to your hearts content so you can realign the screen however you want.  The best thing of all though is the five hours of battery life and this really does make such a difference from a three hour battery.  Again it comes with the SD card slot, JPEG viewer and DivX player as standard.  All in all this is our favourite of all of them.
